High Performance 2 on 1 Tennis Drills

Try These Three High Performance 2 on 1 Tennis Drills To Improve Your Consistency And Fitness

Here are three 2 on 1 drills we have done this indoor season during Cade’s training blocks while building up for Atlantic’s and Nationals.

Alternate 1 & 1 – In this drill Cade alternates between hitting to one of the two players on the other side of the net. This is a great drill to work on rhythm along with changing direction on tough cross-court balls.

2 Cross-Court – In this drill, Cade hits cross-court twice and the two players on the other side will change direction down the line. This is a great drill to work on your defensive cross-court ball along with giving you a good workout.

Triangle Of Death – In this drill, it slows down the side to side running and allows the player on their own to mix up their shots when receiving many different types of balls, while moving up and back. This is a great drill for players looking to improve their groundstrokes and volleys.

We usually do one of these sessions a week leading up to an event. We taper it off a week or two before the event, where Cade will then train more point play sessions and work on his patterns.

Because there are two players on one side during the 2 on 1 session, the player on their own has to work much, much harder than if they were hitting against one player only.

OUR ONLY RULE: If the ball gets over the net, you play it from anywhere and do not let the ball bounce twice. We also count how many we get in a row. Our record on the alternating drill is 224.
